Johan Truter is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society and Health Professions Council. He has been practising since 1994 in South Africa and from 2001 in England.
Apart from the private practice he holds a part-time post within the NHS as a Senior Clinical Psychologist working in the more severe end of Mental Health in a Rehab and Recovery Team and Acute Care Service.
Johan has many years’ experience in private practice, having worked with a diverse group of people suffering from moderate to severe levels of depression, anxieties, panic attacks and obsessive compulsive behaviour. Working in different organisations enabled him to gain specialist skills in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Health Anxiety as well as Personality Disorders.
He has been directly involved in the development of viable systems and processes such as career developmental planning, involving senior clinicians as well as supervising on clinical and organisational matters.
As clinical supervisor his work has involved working with the Stellenbosch University in South Africa as well as Oxford doctoral psychology trainees. He is currently involved with doctoral psychology trainees from the University of East Anglia as well as supervising various senior clinical psychologists and other professional groups.
